Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:17 PM EST on February 28, 2015

The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Broward County in southeastern Florida...
northeastern Miami-Dade County in southeastern Florida...

* until 615 PM EST

* at 313 PM EST... Doppler radar continued to indicate
heavy rains across portions of the area. As much as 3 to 6 inches
of rain with local amounts in excess of 8 inches have been estimated
or observed across the area with heavy rains continuing at this time.
The area getting hit the hardest at this time is southeast Broward
County where additional rainfall amounts over the coming hour could
still exceed 3 inches. Elsewhere lighter rainfall amounts are
falling at this time but due to standing water on roadways and
the fact that it is still raining the advisory continues in
effect across the area.

In the short term there is the concern that the advisory
for portions of southeast Broward might need to be upgraded
to a warning should rains not cease. So stay tuned to the latest
information.

* Some locations that will continue to experience street flooding include...
Miami... Liberty City... Miami Beach... Opa Locka...
North Miami Beach... and Hallandale including communities
in between and/or adjacent to them.

Additional rainfall in excess of 3 inches in hardest hit areas cannot
be discounted over areas where rain continues to stall compounding to
the problem.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.
