Erika has become very unorganized in the face of strong wind shear in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The storm will pass directly over mountainous Hispaniola today, likely weakening it further. If the storm remains intact, it could reach an area favorable for strengthening before moving onto Florida by early next week. Follow the live blog

Nowcast | as of 8:44 PM EDT on August 28, 2015

Through 1000 PM...isolated showers and thunderstorms will be dotted across the Keys service area...adjacent to the island chain and extending well into the offshore Gulf and Atlantic waters. These few storms will be moving westward close to 10 knots. Marine storms will produce wind gusts in excess of 20 knots and reduce visibility to below 2 nm in moderate to heavy downpours. Only a few island locations will see light to moderate rains through late evening.
