Nowcast | as of 6:18 am EDT on September 23, 2014

A tranquil start to the day with isolated morning showers moving off to the northeast at 10 to 15 mph over the interior between Orlando and Lake Okeechobee...and the coastal waters from Vero Beach north. The mid and high cloudiness may be thin enough to allow daytime heating of the atmosphere during the morning thereby increasing the instability of the very moist airmass over central Florida. Impulses of mid level energy and atmospheric spin crossing overhead central Florida will also enhance instability leading to numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms by late afternoon. The primary concern will be excessive amounts of rain accumulating in areas already saturated and leading to short term flooding of roads. Some creeks and rivers may be nearing critical stages of water height if enough rain falls in the area of the creeks and lakes.
