Nowcast | as of 2:53 PM EDT on July 1, 2015

The initial surge of showers and storms that moved in from the west and produced locally heavy rain and some gusty winds from Orlando northward earlier today has pushed offshore. The outflow boundaries that this earlier convection put down are lurking roughly from Mims to Kissimmee but have become dormant at mid afternoon likely due to some drier air. But the East Coast sea breeze has developed from Brevard County south to Martin County and is pushing slowly inland. Additional storms are expected to develop as the sea breeze collides with these outflow boundaries from northern Brevard southward across East Orange and Osceola counties toward evening. Storm coverage may not be very high due to the drier air but strong heating has occurred south and east of Orlando so a few strong storms may result. The isolated storms over interior Martin and Saint Lucie counties are due to a collision with the sea breeze and Lake Okeechobee breeze boundaries. This activity should develop inland toward Okeechobee County the next few hours. Additional details...including graphics are available online at: http://www.Srh.NOAA.Gov/mlb/blog.Php
