Nowcast | as of 2:00 PM EDT on July 2, 2015

Scattered lightning storms will advance east and northeast at 10 to 15 mph from the interior peninsula...toward the East Coast. The storms will affect areas from Kissimmee and St. Cloud northward... first reaching lake and Volusia counties during the early to mid afternoon...then Seminole...Orange...Brevard and portions of Osceola County mid to late afternoon. A few of the storms will likely become strong...especially as they approach the Volusia and Brevard coast and interact with the East Coast sea breeze. Frequent cloud to ground lightning...wind gusts to around 40 mph and very heavy rain will occur with the strongest storms. Farther south and east...isolated showers and storms will form and spread to the north or northwest at 10 mph. Most of Okeechobee County will remain rain free through mid to late afternoon as stable air has lifted north from the lake and suppressed cloud development. Special Statement
Statement as of 2:41 PM EDT on July 02, 2015

... Significant weather advisory for Lake... Orange... Volusia and
Seminole counties until 345 PM EDT...

At 240 PM EDT... Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southwest of
Bunnell to near deleon Springs to near Eustis to near Lake Louisa...
and moving northeast at 35 mph.

Half inch hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Orlando... Deltona... Daytona Beach... Port Orange and Sanford.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The primary threats will be frequent cloud to ground lightning and
strong wind gusts... which can cause unsecured objects to blow
around... snap tree limbs... cause power outages or capsize small
boats. Heavy rainfall will temporarily reduce visibility. Seek
shelter indoors until the storm passes.

Boaters should be aware that strong wind gusts sometimes occur well
away from the heavy rain and lightning associated with storms.

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms... which will
reduce visibility and may lead to temporary flooding of low lying and
poor drainage areas. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

These storms may intensify... so be certain to monitor local radio and
TV stations... as well as local cable TV outlets... for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

To report severe weather... contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Melbourne.
