Statement as of 2:07 PM CST on December 21, 2009 ... Freeze warning in effect from midnight EST /11 PM CST/ tonight to 8 am EST /7 am CST/ Tuesday... The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a freeze warning... which is in effect from midnight EST /11 PM CST/ tonight to 8 am EST /7 am CST/ Tuesday. This replaces the freeze watch which is no longer in effect. High pressure will be centered over the watch area tonight. This is a cold and dry air mass and another widespread freeze is predicted... except along coastal areas. Total freeze durations of 6 to 8 hours are anticipated in the coldest locations... 3 to 5 hours elsewhere. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other tender vegetation. Sensitive plants should be covered or brought inside. |
