Watches & Warnings

Wind Chill Advisory, Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 9:10 AM EST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST
Thursday...
... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST
Wednesday...

* locations... for far northeast Georgia... mainly east and north
of Chatsworth to Dawsonville to Cleveland.

* Hazard types... accumulating snow... areas of black ice... and
dangerous wind chills.

* Accumulations... 1 to 2 inches of snow with isolated higher
amounts possible at elevations above 2500 feet.

* Timing... dangerous wind chills can be expected through 10 am
Thursday morning. Snow showers will continue through early
Wednesday. Black ice is possible until Road temperatures rise
above freezing.

* Winds... west northwest 15 to 20 mph gusting up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... mid teens this morning... then low teens to
upper single digits early Wednesday and Thursday mornings with
slight increases during the afternoons.

* Wind chill readings... near 5 degrees this morning... 5 below to
5 above early Wednesday and early Thursday.

* Impacts... snow/ice on roads will create hazardous driving
conditions. Even the lower elevations of north Georgia will
see the potential for slick spots on roadways due to black ice
early this morning and Wednesday morning as any lingering
moisture on the roads will re-freeze. For wind chills... frost
bite and hypothermia are possible if precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This can result in
frost bite and could lead to hypothermia if precautions are not
taken. If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat
and gloves.
