Tropical Storm Erika remains unorganized as it travels through the northeast Caribbean Sea. Puerto Rico could receive over a foot of rain from Erika, which could help the ongoing drought but could also produce dangerous mudslides. Erika is not forecast to reach hurricane strength until Monday when it curves northward along the east coast of Florida. Follow the live blog

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 6 PM to 10 PM EDT this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 6 PM to 10 PM EDT this
evening.

* Location... south coastal South Carolina... including downtown
Charleston.

* Tide levels... 7.0 to 7.2 feet mean lower low water.

* Timing... the risk for shallow coastal flooding will be the
highest within an hour either side of high tide. High tide will
occur in the Charleston Harbor around 741 PM and around 848 PM
in the Beaufort river near Beaufort.

* Impacts... inundation of saltwater in and near low-lying coastal
areas could lead to some Road closures and flooding of
properties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be prepared for the possibility of Road closures and minor
flooding of properties. If travel is necessary... do not attempt
to drive through water of unknown depth.
