Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to noon CST Thursday... a cold front is pushing south across the area and extends from Georgetown to Fredericksburg to Pandale. Light to moderate showers are occurring ahead of the front and affecting areas 40 miles on each side of Interstate 35. Winds will begin to pick up within the next few hours as the Arctic airmass pushes to the south. Showers and even isolated thunderstorms are expected through this evening ahead of the cold airmass.

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from midnight
tonight to noon CST Thursday...

* timing... Arctic air will pour into the area after 6 PM...
freezing rain and sleet should begin around midnight and
continue through noon Thursday. Temperatures should rise above
freezing after noon Thursday.

* Main impact... freezing rain and sleet causing icing of less
than 1/10 inch. This will make for patchy ice on roads and
hazardous driving conditions in some spots.

* Other impacts... sidewalks... decks... and other surfaces may be
slippery.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

CST Thursday.

* Timing... midnight through noon Thursday

* winds... sustained at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

* Impacts... typical issues with trash cans and other loose items
outdoors. However... when combined with freezing rain and
sleet... icing on tree branches may cause them to break in the
strong winds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 26 to 39 mph are
expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...
