Wind Chill Advisory, Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 2:52 PM EST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am EST
Wednesday...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM this evening
to noon EST Wednesday above 3500 feet...
... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 7 PM Wednesday to 10 am EST
Thursday above 3500 feet...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Wind Chill Advisory above 3500 feet... which is in effect from
7 PM Wednesday to 10 am EST Thursday.

* Locations... the North Carolina mountains near the Tennessee
border.

* Hazards... periods of snow and blowing snow. Also... any wet roads
will refreeze again tonight... causing slippery conditions. In
addition... northwest winds combined with temperatures in the
single digits will result in wind chill values of 5 to 15
degrees below zero in elevations above 3500 feet tonight and Wednesday
night.

* Timing... snow will continue through tonight... with slow but
steady accumulation. However... deep moisture and strengthening
northwest winds will still produce at least light snow showers
at times Wednesday. A new Winter Weather Advisory could be
necessary.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of up to 2 to 3 inches.

* Impacts... snow and snow packed roads will make travel
hazardous... especially across the high elevations near the
Tennessee border. Snow accumulation and strong gusty winds
could result in a few downed trees. Wind chill values of less
than 5 degrees below zero will make it dangerous to be outside
across the high elevations Tuesday night.

* Temperatures... 8 to 24 above.

* Winds... northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Wind chill values... as low as 9 below due to temperatures 8 to
23 above... and winds northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to
35 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Please report snow and ice accumulations by calling the National
Weather Service toll free at... 1... 800... 2 6 7... 8 1 0 1. Leave a
message with your observation and the specific location where it
occurred. You can also Post your report to National Weather
Service Greenville Spartanburg facebook or tweet your report
using hashtag nwsgsp.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
