... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until noon EST today
above 3500 feet...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 7 PM this evening
to 10 am EST Thursday above 3500 feet...

* locations... the central and southern North Carolina mountains.

* Hazards... periods of snow and blowing snow. In addition...
northwest winds combined with temperatures in the single digits
will result in wind chill values of 5 to 15 degrees below zero
in elevations above 3500 feet this morning and again Thursday
morning.

* Timing... snow showers will be less frequent today... tapering off
this evening... with slight accumulation near the Tennessee
border. Bitter cold wind chills are expected early in the
morning.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of up to 1 inch.

* Impacts... snow and snow packed roads will make travel
hazardous... especially across the high elevations near the
Tennessee border. Snow accumulation and strong gusty winds could
result in a few downed trees. Wind chill values colder than 5
degrees below zero will make it dangerous to be outside across
the high elevations Tuesday night.

* Temperatures... 7 to 23 above.

* Winds... northwest 10 to 20 mph with frequent gusts of 25 to 35
mph this afternoon and evening.

* Wind chill values... as low as 10 below.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
