Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:59 AM EDT on July 04, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Sunday evening...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has
expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of northeast Georgia...
western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina... including
Elbert... Franklin... Hart and Stephens counties in northeast
Georgia. In western North Carolina... the southern half of
Jackson County. And in upstate South Carolina... all of Oconee
County.

* Through Sunday evening

* the threat for heavy rain producing thunderstorms will increase
today and remain through Sunday. Locally an additional 2 or 3
inches of rain may fall on top of soils already saturated from
recent rainfall.

* Rivers and streams in the southwest North Carolina mountains and
the upper Savannah River valley will rise with the anticipated
rainfall through Sunday. Periods of torrential downpours with
any thunderstorms may cause rapid rises along streams and
creeks... and associated flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
