... High surf advisory remains in effect until 6 am EST Saturday...
A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 am EST Saturday.
Low pressure along the South Carolina coast this evening will move
slowly northeast along the North Carolina coast late tonight and
Saturday. Strong east to northeast winds will continue overnight
producing large waves and rough surf. Breaking waves up to 8 feet
in the surf zone are expected tonight which could lead to minor
beach erosion. The winds will shift to the west to northwest
Saturday with waves in the surf zone slowly subsiding.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing dangerous rip currents and
localized beach erosion.
