... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST this
afternoon...

* location... areas adjacent to the southern portion of the Pamlico
Sound including locations from Club Foot Creek east to Cedar
Island. In addition... lingering coastal flooding is possible
for areas that are located adjacent to Core Sound and the Bogue
Sound drainage areas including Core Banks... Atlantic Beach...
Beaufort and Morehead City.

* Coastal flooding... water level rises of 2 to 4 feet above normal
possible for areas adjacent to the Pamlico Sound. Water levels
rises of 2 to 4 feet above normal in the core and Bogue sounds.

* Timing... the threat of continued flooding will be greatest
around high tide from 6 am to 9 am this morning.

* Impacts... significant sound side flooding could result in
water across Highway 12 making it impassable in the vicinity
of Cedar Island. Secondary roads and properties adjacent to
the southern Pamlico Sound and its tidal creeks could be
affected by high water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert
for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life
and property.
