Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 8:55 AM EDT on August 31, 2015

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
Johnston County in central North Carolina...
southwestern Franklin County in central North Carolina...
central Wake County in central North Carolina...
southwestern Wayne County in central North Carolina...
northeastern Sampson County in central North Carolina...

* until 1100 am EDT

* at 854 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Raleigh... Smithfield... Wake Forest... Garner... Clayton... Zebulon...
Benson... Franklinton... Knightdale and Micro.

Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will cause minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few
inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
