... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon EST
Friday...

* locations... along and north of Highway 64... including all of
The Triad and Triangle... Roxboro... Rocky Mount... and
Roanoke Rapids... as well as Wayne and Johnston counties.

* Hazard types... temperatures will drop below freezing between 11
PM and 1 am across north central North Carolina... causing any
moisture on roads and sidewalks to freeze. Readings are likely
to stay below freezing until late morning Friday.


* Impacts... hazardous travel conditions.

* Temperatures... in the upper 20s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued because wet roads and
cold temperatures will result in areas of black ice on roads and
sidewalks. Motorists should exercise extreme caution tonight into
Friday morning... especially at intersections... onramps and
offramps... bridges... and overpasses... where accidents are most
likely.



Flood Warning
Statement as of 8:54 PM EST on March 05, 2015

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Neuse River at Smithfield.
* Until Sunday afternoon, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:15 PM Thursday the stage was 14.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river is expected to rise above flood stage by
tonight and continue to rise to near 16.5 feet by early Saturday
morning.The river will fall below flood stage by Saturday before
midnight.
* Impact... at 15.0 feet, minor flood stage. Flooding begins along the
Neuse riverwalk. Water nears the base of the Holding Tank at the
water treatment plant.
