Nowcast | as of 2:00 PM EDT on July 2, 2015

Scattered lightning storms will advance east and northeast at 10 to 15 mph from the interior peninsula...toward the East Coast. The storms will affect areas from Kissimmee and St. Cloud northward... first reaching lake and Volusia counties during the early to mid afternoon...then Seminole...Orange...Brevard and portions of Osceola County mid to late afternoon. A few of the storms will likely become strong...especially as they approach the Volusia and Brevard coast and interact with the East Coast sea breeze. Frequent cloud to ground lightning...wind gusts to around 40 mph and very heavy rain will occur with the strongest storms. Farther south and east...isolated showers and storms will form and spread to the north or northwest at 10 mph. Most of Okeechobee County will remain rain free through mid to late afternoon as stable air has lifted north from the lake and suppressed cloud development.
