Ongoing activity along the East Coast Metro areas will spread westwards into Glades...Hendry...and Collier counties through mid morning. Locally heavy rainfall will occur with most activity today...and persistent or training bands of rain may lead to flooding of roadways...low-lying and prone areas. Gusty winds of 40 mph and frequent lightning strikes will also accompany stronger activity.

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of South Florida... including the following coastal
Broward... coastal ... Collier... coastal Miami Dade... coastal
Palm Beach... far South Miami Dade... Glades... Hendry... inland
Broward... inland Collier... inland Miami Dade... inland Palm
Beach... Mainland Monroe... Metro Broward... Metro Miami Dade and
Metro Palm Beach.

* Through Monday morning

* deep tropical moisture associated with the remnants of Erika
currently extending across the Florida Straits will be moving
into South Florida early this morning through tonight. This
will create a threat for very heavy rainfall across South
Florida with rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches along with the
possibility of much higher amounts where showers and
thunderstorms move over the same area.

* Heavy rain may create significant flooding of streets... urban
areas... and low lying flood prone areas.|

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
north central Miami-Dade County in southeastern Florida...

* until 645 am EDT

* at 349 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hialeah... doral... Miami Lakes... Hialeah Gardens and Opa-Locka.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

* at 343 am EDT... trained weather spotters reported heavy rain in
Wynwood and Edgewater due to thunderstorms. This will cause Urban
and Small Stream flooding.

* Wynwood and Edgewater are the most likely places to experience
minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in

over Mahogany Hammock... or 13 miles north of Flamingo... moving
northwest at 15 mph.

* The primary impacts will be frequent to excessive lightning and
gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph. Lightning is the number one weather
related killer in Florida. Trees and open shelters offer no
protection. These winds can down small tree limbs and branches...
and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe
building until the storm passes.
