The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Miami-Dade County in southeastern Florida...

* until 545 PM EDT

* at 247 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Miami... Hialeah... Coral Gables... South Miami and Kendall.

Additional rainfall of 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will make minor urban flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Broward and northeastern Miami-Dade counties until 315 PM EDT...

* at 230 PM EDT... Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm
over Royal Palm ranches... or near Pembroke Pines... moving north at
10 mph.

* Frequent to excessive lightning... gusty winds from 45 to 55 mph...
small hail... torrential downpours... or a combination of these are
possible. Lightning is the number one weather related killer in
Florida. Trees and open shelters offer no protection. These winds
can down small tree limbs and branches... and blow around unsecured
small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm
passes.
