Nowcast | as of 11:00 am EDT on August 20, 2014

Through noon...scattered showers and widely separated thunderstorms will impact the Florida Keys...as well as nearshore and offshore waters surrounding the island chain. These showers and storms will move to the west at around 10 knots. The strongest storms will produce an occasional lightning strike...wind gusts near 25 knots...and brief...heavy rain...temporarily reducing the visibility to near two miles. Over land...the most likely area to see rainfall will be from Plantation Key to Ocean Reef. The majority of showers and storms will be located over the Florida Straits.
