Nowcast | as of 11:36 am EDT on October 22, 2014

Until 1 PM...an area of rain...showers and embedded isolated thunderstorms will increase in coverage over the island chain and the adjacent nearshore and surrounding offshore waters of the Florida Keys. Movement of most activity will be toward the north at 10 to 15 knots. Over land...a good portion of the Lower and Middle Keys will receive mostly light rain...but with a few pockets of moderate rain. The majority and stronger cells will be found on the waters from Boca Grande to beyond Dry Tortugas...and southward for over 50 nm. Stronger cells will deliver wind gusts of 25 to 30 knots...reduce visibility to below 4 miles in heavy rain and occasional cloud to water lightning strikes.
