... Flood Watch in effect from 2 PM EDT this afternoon through
late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Virginia... northern
Virginia... northwest Virginia and western Virginia... including
the following areas... in central Virginia... Albemarle... Greene
and Nelson. In northern Virginia... central VA Blue Ridge and
northern VA Blue Ridge. In northwest Virginia... Madison... Page
and Rappahannock. In western Virginia... Augusta and
Rockingham.

* From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight.

* Moderate to locally heavy rain will overspread the region late
this afternoon through tonight. Rainfall totals of one and a
half to two inches are expected in areas near the central and
northern Blue Ridge mountains. Locally higher amounts are
possible... especially along and immediately east of the
Ridgeline.

* Expect small streams and creeks to rise... possibly overflowing
their banks. In addition... flooding may occur in low lying and
poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
