Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 10:20 AM HST on August 31, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Kauai in Kauai County

* until 115 PM HST

* at 1012 am HST... rain gauges showed locally heavy showers falling
at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour moving along the trade winds.
The gauge on the Hanalei river has been showing a rise above 7.5
ft... and streams will remain elevated from runoff through mid day.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Haena... Wainiha... Na Pali State Park... Moloaa... Kalalau Valley...
Princeville... Kokee State
Park... Kilauea... Kalihiwai... Anahola... and Hanalei.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 115 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.
