Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 1:28 PM HST on August 04, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* until 430 PM HST

* at 113 PM HST... radar showed heavy rain over the south end of The
Big Island of Hawaii... between Naalehu and Hawaiian Oceanview
estates. Radar was showing rain falling at up to 3 inches per
hour. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary.

* The area of heavy rain will otherwise remain over mainly rural
areas of the indicated County.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for The Big Island and Maui
through Thursday evening.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 430 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until 6 PM HST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for Maui and The Big Island

* until 600 PM Thursday.

* For abundant moisture from Tropical Storm Guillermo moving over
the area.

* Excessive runoff may result in rock and mudslides in steep
terrain. Fast moving water may create life-threatening situations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Remember
that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for
flash flooding to occur.

Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action if flash flood warnings are issued.
