Lake Effect Snow Warning, Wind Chill Advisory
Issued: 3:33 AM EST Feb. 13, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 10 PM EST
this evening...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST Sunday...

* accumulations... a lot of variability in snowfall amounts is
expected. An additional 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected
today... especially where the heavier snow bands persist. A few
locations could see a storm total of 15 inches or more of snow
by this evening.

* Timing... lake effect snow bands will continue and could possibly
be heavy at times before gradually diminishing tonight.

* Wind chill... wind chills will dip below minus 10 and possibly as
low as minus 20 at times. Dangerous wind chills will remain in
the area through Sunday morning.

* Impacts... snow covered roads and reduced visibility during
heavier snow showers and squalls. Dangerous wind chills can
result in frostbite or hypothermia in minutes. Frigid
temperatures could freeze water pipes.

* Winds... northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... temperatures today will hover between 5 and 15
degrees across the area. Lows tonight will be around 0 with some
isolated areas down to around minus 10 at the traditional cold
spots.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is 10 degrees
below zero or colder for a period of several hours. If you will
be outdoors use common sense and dress warmly... making sure that
all exposed skin is covered. Stay tuned to weather radio for
further details or updates.

In lake effect snow the weather can vary from locally heavy snow
in narrow bands to dry weather just a few miles away. If you will
be traveling across the region be prepared for rapid changes in
Road and visibility conditions. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio
for further details or updates.
