... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST
Saturday...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 4 am Saturday to
11 am EST Sunday...

* locations... the Allegheny plateau and Laurel Highlands.

* Hazard types... snow and dangerously cold wind chills.

* Snow accumulations... snow accumulation of 2 to 3 inches by
Saturday morning... along with significant blowing and drifting
of the snow. Additional light to moderate snow accumulation is
expected during the day Saturday. Storm totals of 5 to 8
inches... with the highest values on the ridges of Somerset and
Cambria counties.

* Timing... an Arctic front will create heavy snow squalls early
tonight... possibly accompanied by whiteout conditions. The very
cold airmass blowing over the Great Lakes will be lifted across
the mountains... generating frequent snow showers of varying
intensity.

* Wind chills... falling to between 20 and 25 below zero by
daybreak Saturday then staying in that range right through
much of Sunday morning.

* Impacts... snow covered and hazardous Road conditions... along
with potential frostbite to exposed skin in just 15 to 30
minutes.

* Winds... southwest 10 to 20 mph early tonight shifting to
northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* Temperatures... falling to near or slightly below zero tonight
and Saturday... then down to around 10 below zero Saturday
night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you will be outdoors... dress in layers and wear a hat and
gloves. Young children... the elderly and the homeless are
especially vulnerable to the cold. Appropriate action should be
taken to ensure pets have adequate protection from the cold
temperatures.
