Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 10:45 AM EST on March 01, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory for snow and a light glazing of ice remains
in effect until 7 am EST Monday...

* snow accumulations... will range from 1 to 2 inches at the lower
elevations... to as much as 6 to 8 inches at the highest
elevations. Due to compaction... melting and settling of
snow... actual snow depths will be significantly lower.

* Ice accumulation... a light glaze is possible at lower elevations
where a changeover to rain is expected. This rain could refreeze
onto the very cold... untreated roads.

* Precipitation type... a steady wet snow is expected to gradually
mix with and changeover to rain at the lower elevations toward
midday as temperatures warm into the mid 30s. At higher
elevations... precipitation may remain either all snow or
periodically mix with rain. Intensity is expected to be heaviest
this afternoon into this evening. Any mixed precipitation or
rain will change back over to snow after 9 PM.

* Snow ending... snow is expected to gradually taper off toward
daybreak.

* Impacts... hazardous travel conditions are expected due to snow
accumulation and a trace of ice. Additionally... the snow will be
of a very wet and heavy character. Persons shoveling should use
extreme caution and take frequent breaks to avoid injury.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that snow and mixed precipitation will
cause travel difficulties. Use caution while driving and report
snow and ice accumulation to the National Weather Service by
calling 412-262-1988... posting to the NWS Pittsburgh facebook
Page... or using twitter @nwspittsburgh.
