... Lake effect snow watch remains in effect from late tonight
through late Friday night...
... Wind chill watch remains in effect from late Friday night
through Sunday morning...

* locations... Jefferson and Lewis counties.

* Timing... the lake effect snow watch is in effect from late
tonight through overnight Friday night. The wind chill watch
is in effect from late Friday night through late Sunday
morning.

* Accumulations... 9 to 17 inches are possible in the most
persistent lake snows.

* Winds... west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Visibilities... as low as a quarter mile at times.

* Wind chill values... as low as 40 below.

* Impacts... lake effect snow may result in difficult travel at
times with snow covered roads and greatly reduced
visibilities. Wind chills will reach dangerous levels. Frigid
temperatures have the potential to result in frozen pipes...
frostbite and hypothermia.

* Forecaster confidence... in the lake effect snow is high. An
intense band of heavy lake effect snow is likely to develop
late tonight and Friday and impact portions of Jefferson and
Lewis counties. Forecaster confidence in the wind chill watch
is high.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect snow watch means that significant winter weather is
possible in localized areas.

A wind chill watch is issued when strong winds will combine with
cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is 15 degrees
below zero or colder for a period of several hours. If you will
be outdoors use common sense and dress warmly... making sure that
all exposed skin is covered. If possible... avoid prolonged
exposure to the cold to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
