Statement as of 5:18 PM EDT on April 20, 2015

The National Weather Service in Taunton, MA has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Connecticut River at Middle Haddam.
* Until Tuesday morning... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 4:55 PM Monday the stage was 7.03 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Very minor flooding is occurring and very minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will briefly fall below flood stage early this evening
but then rise again to near 7.1 feet by early Tuesday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by late Tuesday morning.
* Impact... at 7.0 feet... flooding is likely in the vicinity of Meadow
Road, Route 17a, in the Gildersleeve section of Portland. A portion
of this roadway will likely be closed. This includes the exchange
club of Portland Fairgrounds. Boating interests should prepare for
a period of swift river flows during this period.

... Dense fog advisory remains in effect until 6 am EDT Tuesday...

* locations... coastal Connecticut.

* Hazards... dense fog.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing... dense fog will develop this evening and continue
overnight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving... slow down... use
your low beam headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of
you in case a sudden stop is needed.
