Winter Storm will continue impacting eastern New England through Monday night with a combination of heavy snow and strong winds, resulting in dangerous travel conditions. In parts of southeast Massachusetts, blizzard conditions are possible along with tree damage, some power outages and coastal flooding. As of late Monday morning, winds had gusted up to 57 mph on Nantucket Island and coastal flooding was reported in several locations along the Massachusetts coast.

... Winter Storm Warning in effect until noon EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow ... which is in effect until noon EST
Tuesday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Hazard types... snow

* accumulations... snow accumulation of 5 to 8 inches.

* Timing... snow will continue into Tuesday morning. Some light
snow could linger into Tuesday afternoon but much of the
accumulation will be over by midday Tuesday.

* Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery. Strong
winds will cause blowing and drifting snow and could lead to
low visibility in spots.

* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Temperatures... around 20.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a coastal Flood
Warning... which is in effect from 9 am to 1 PM EST Tuesday. A
coastal Flood Advisory has also been issued. This coastal Flood
Advisory is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 1 am EST Tuesday.

* Location... .coastal York... coastal Cumberland... and coastal
Rockingham counties.

* Coastal flooding... coastal flooding may occur around the time of
tonight's high tide and is expected Tuesday morning around the
mid to late morning high tide.

* Timing... tonight from 9 PM to 1 am... and again Tuesday morning
from 9 am to 1 PM.

* Impacts... splash-over may occur tonight along the more
vulnerable east and northeast facing beaches. Splash-over as
well as coastal flooding is expected during Tuesday morning's
high tide.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert
for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life
and property.

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
