Issued: 9:22 PM EST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am EST
Saturday...
... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 6 PM Saturday to
noon EST Sunday...

* locations... Nantucket.

* Hazard types... snow... dangerously cold wind chills and strong
wind gusts.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches.

* Wind chill readings... as low as 15 below zero.

* Timing... snow will become widespread and increase in intensity
through late this evening. The bulk of the accumulating snow
will occur through 5 am Saturday morning... but snow showers may
linger through mid morning. The worst of the wind chills will
occur Saturday night into Sunday morning. The strongest wind
gusts will occur Saturday afternoon and evening.

* Impacts... untreated roads will become snow covered and
slippery. Wind chills this cold can bring on frostbite in as
little as 30 minutes! Outdoor exposure should be limited in
these conditions. Strong winds Saturday afternoon and evening
may down a few large tree limbs.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Air temperatures... temperatures Saturday night into Sunday
morning will fall to near 5 above zero.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is
forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are
expected to be light. Any snow or ice would result in slippery
conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When
temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially
careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily
develop.

A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when the wind chill index is
likely to reach -15 to -24 degrees for at least 3 hours.
Frostbite can develop in just 30 minutes with a wind chill index
of -20. If you are heading outdoors... dress in layers and wear a
hat and gloves.
