... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

* locations... Marthas Vineyard and Block Island.

* Hazard types... snow.

* Accumulations... total snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches.

* Timing... snow will be heavy at times before tapering off later this
evening.

* Impacts... hazardous travel is expected with snow covered and
slippery roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued for minor accumulations of
snow which can affect travel conditions. Plan on extra travel
time during the Friday morning commute. Be alert for slippery
roads.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is
forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are
expected to be light. Any snow or ice would result in slippery
conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When
temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially
careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily
develop.

... Wind Advisory in effect until 7 PM EST this evening...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until 7 PM EST this evening.

* Location... Cape Cod... Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard.

* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... through 7pm this evening.

* Impacts... the combination of strong winds... as well as some rain
mixing with snow in some areas could lead to downed limbs and
small trees. Some power outages are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be
31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds
this strong are capable of Downing small tree limbs and
branches... possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can
also be difficult... especially for high profile vehicles.

Temperatures are expected to drop rapidly this evening and
overnight... into the teens and low 20s. This will lead to rapid
freezing of untreated roadways and walkways... which could become
slippery with black ice.

Those commuting are urged to use caution and allow for extra time
as the ice may be difficult to see.
