Lake Effect Snow Watch
Issued: 3:36 AM EST Feb. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow watch in effect from late tonight through
Thursday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a lake effect
snow watch... which is in effect from late tonight through
Thursday afternoon.

* Locations... Chautauqua... Cattaraugus... and southern Erie
counties. Greatest snow amounts expected just inland from Lake
Erie along the Chautauqua ridge and Boston Hills.

* Timing... from late tonight through late Thursday afternoon.

* Accumulations... 8 to 16 inches are possible in the most
persistent lake snows.

* Winds... west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph producing some
blowing and drifting snow.

* Visibilities... less than a half mile at times.

* Impacts... lake effect snow and blowing snow will result in very
difficult travel at times with snow covered roads and poor
visibility.

* Forecaster confidence... medium. There remains some uncertainty
with respect to placement and intensity of lake effect snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect snow watch means that significant winter weather is
possible in localized areas.
