Watches & Warnings

Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 7:05 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... The Blizzard Warning has been replaced with a Winter Weather
Advisory in effect until midnight EST tonight...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until midnight EST
tonight.

* Locations... Plymouth County... Cape Cod... and the islands.

* Hazard types... snow.

* Accumulations... additional accumulations of 2 to 4 inches
between 7pm and midnight... resulting in storm totals of 8 to 12
inches.

* Timing... steady snow continues through midnight.

* Impacts... travel will be slow on any unplowed or untreated
surfaces.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is
forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are
expected to be light. Any snow or ice would result in slippery
conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When
temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially
careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily
develop.

Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 6:39 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EST
Tuesday...

* location... Plymouth County coast from Hull to Plymouth. North and east
facing shorelines of Cape Cod. North and east coasts of Nantucket including
Nantucket Harbor.

* Coastal flooding... minor coastal flooding is likely around the
time of the high tide near midnight. There is also a possibility
of minor coastal flooding during the Tuesday late morning/midday
high tide... especially on Nantucket.

* Timing... within a couple of hours of the high tide around
midnight or between 10 PM and 2 am.

* Impacts... some vulnerable shore roads will likely be
flooded... perhaps up to a foot deep. Shorelines exposed to the
open ocean will likely experience considerable splashover and
erosion from leftover swells. The beach erosion may be
especially significant along Outer Cape cod Truro to Chatham and
the east side of Nantucket.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory is issued for minor coastal flooding of the most
vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the height of the storm tide or
wave splashover. The majority of roads remain passable with only isolated
closures. There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is
minimal.

All tide heights are relative to mean lower low water.
Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
