Blowing Dust Advisory, Wind Advisory
Statement as of 2:06 PM PDT on August 29, 2015

... Blowing dust advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PDT this
evening...
... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PDT this evening...

* visibilities... less than 1 mile at times. Locally less than
one half mile near freshly plowed fields.

* Winds... southwest to west 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... the very windy and dusty conditions are expected to
persist into the early evening.

* Impacts... high profile vehicles traveling along Interstate
82... and Interstate 84 should be prepared for possible strong
cross winds. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing
visibilities. Winds of these magnitudes may cause loose objects
to suddenly become airborne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

A blowing dust advisory means that blowing dust will restrict
visibilities. Travelers are urged to use caution.

Air Quality Alert
Statement as of 10:19 AM PDT on August 29, 2015

... Air quality alert in effect until further notice...

The Oregon department of environmental quality and the Washington
state department of ecology continue the air quality alert until
further notice.

A smoke air quality alert has been issued. Wildfires burning in the
region combined with forecasted conditions will cause air quality to
reach unhealthy levels.

Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes... runny nose... aggravate
heart and lung diseases... and aggravate other serious health
problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it
is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung
condition.

In addition... a cold front that has passed through the Pacific
northwest this morning will create windy conditions. Although air
quality issues due to smoke may improve briefly... the windy
conditions will also produce areas of blowing dust. This dust will
add to the air quality issues through the weekend.
