Watches & Warnings

Wind Chill Advisory, Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 10:07 AM EST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect from 4 PM this
afternoon to 10 PM EST Saturday...
... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to 10 am
EST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Wind Chill
Advisory... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 10 am
EST Sunday.

* Accumulations... an inch or two of snow is possible by early
evening with an additional 6 to 8 inches of snow tonight where
the stronger bands set up. There will be a lot of variability in
snowfall amounts. An additional 3 to 6 inches is possible on
Saturday. A few locations could see a total of 18 inches or
more of snow by Saturday evening.

* Timing... a burst of snow will accompany the passage of a cold
front late this afternoon. Lake effect snow bands will develop
behind the front and be heavy at times tonight. The snow will
continue into Saturday before gradually diminishing Saturday
night.

* Wind chill... wind chills will dip below minus 10 this evening
and could get as low as minus 20 at times late tonight.
Dangerous wind chills will remain in the area through Sunday
morning.

* Impacts... snow covered roads and reduced visibility during
heavier snow showers and squalls. Dangerous wind chills can
result in frostbite or hypothermia in just a few minutes. Frigid
temperatures could freeze water pipes.

* Winds... northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... lows tonight from 5 above to 5 below with highs
Saturday from 10 to 15 degrees. Lows Saturday night could be
as cold as minus 10 at traditional cold spots.

Precautionary/preparedness actions... a Wind Chill Advisory is
issued when strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to
create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin. The wind
will make it feel like it is 10 degrees below zero or colder for
a period of several hours. If you will be outdoors use common
sense and dress warmly... making sure that all exposed skin is
covered. Stay tuned to weather radio for further details or
updates.
