the Kenai River from Kenai Lake to Skilak Lake

* until 645 PM akdt Friday

* the snow Glacier-dammed lake in the Kenai Mountains has released
and is sending additional water into Kenai Lake and the Kenai
River. Water levels on the Kenai River at Cooper Landing are
approaching 12.5 ft this morning and continuing to rise. Minor
flood stage is at 13.0 ft and is expected to be reached around
midday Thursday. A crest around 13.5 ft is now expected by 10 am

Lake are expected to be at or above bank full with low-lying areas
likely flooded.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles
away.

148 PM akdt Wed Sep 2 2015

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
low-lying areas around Kenai Lake including the Primrose
campground.

* Until 145 PM akdt Friday

* at 148 PM akdt Wednesday... water levels on the snow river and
Kenai Lake continue to rise. Minor flooding has likely begun along
Primrose Road and portions of the Primrose campground on the south
side of Kenai Lake as well as other low-lying areas surrounding
the lake. Water levels will continue to slowly climb for the next
day or two before beginning to fall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
