High Surf Warning, Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:47 PM HST on September 02, 2015

... High surf warning remains in effect until 6 PM HST Thursday...

A high surf warning remains in effect until 6 PM HST Thursday.

* Surf... along east facing shores... 10 to 15 feet.

* Timing... through Thursday and possibly through the weekend at
warning levels.

* Impacts... very high... expect ocean water surging and sweeping
across beaches... coastal benches... and lava flows creating the
potential for impacts to coastal properties and
infrastructure... including roadways. Powerful longshore and
rip currents will be present at most beaches. Large breaking
waves and strong currents may impact Harbor entrances and
channels causing challenging boat handling.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

These dangerous conditions mean that only highly experienced
persons should enter the water. Inexperienced persons should
remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. Large breaking
surf... significant shore break... and dangerous currents make
entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water
could face significant injury or death.

304 PM HST Wed Sep 2 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Maui in Maui County

* until 600 PM HST

* at 259 PM HST... radar showed areas of heavy showers and
thunderstorms with rain falling at rates of more than 2 inches per
hour. The heaviest showers have shifted to upcountry Maui and
windward west Maui. Although showers have diminished along east
Maui... streams remain very high.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Waihee... Waiehu... Pauwela... napili... Kapalua... Kahakuloa... hookipa
Beach Park... Honolua... Honokohau and Haiku.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This Flood Advisory replaces the previously issued advisory that was
in effect for portions of the island of Maui in Maui County.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 600 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.
