A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 am PDT this morning. A
lake Wind Advisory remains in effect from 11 am this morning to 3
am PDT Sunday.

* Winds: southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph decreasing
Saturday afternoon to 15 to 25 with gusts to 40 mph.

* Wave heights on lake tahoe: 2 to 5 feet with highest waves on
north and east shores.

* Small boats will be prone to capsizing and should remain off
lake waters until conditions improve.

* Other impacts: winds will be capable of bringing down tree
limbs and may blow away unsecured outdoor items like patio
furniture or camping gear.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists... especially in high profile vehicles... should use
caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds. Secure
outdoor gear such as camping gear and patio furniture. Tree limbs
may be blown down as well due to denser foliage.

Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 4:14 AM PDT on August 29, 2015

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 6 PM PDT this evening
for strong winds and low fuel moistures for the eastern Sierra
and much of western Nevada...

* affected area... fire zone 273 Mono-eastern alpine counties...
fire zone 450 western Nevada Sierra front... fire zone 453 west
central Nevada basin and range and fire zone 459 Mineral and
southern Lyon counties.

* Winds... southwest to west 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50
mph. Locally stronger gusts up to 60 mph in wind prone areas.
Sierra ridge wind gusts up to 70 mph.

* Humidity... 15 to 25 percent. Driest conditions expected
Saturday afternoon near and east of Highway 95.

* Impacts... although daytime humidity values will be higher than
is typical for August... the duration and strength of winds
along with the low fuel moistures will create critical fire
weather conditions.
