Beach Hazard Statement
Statement as of 11:25 AM PDT on August 30, 2015

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this
evening...

... Beach hazards statement in effect from Sunday morning through
Sunday evening...

* location... all beaches along the coast from Sonoma County south
into Monterey County... long Sandy west facing beaches can be
especially prone to dangerous rip currents today.

* Timing... the remainder of the day through 9pm this evening.

* Impacts... exceptionally strong rip currents and large shore
break.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazard statement for rip currents means that conditions
are present to support a heightened risk of strong rip currents.
Rip currents are typically more frequent and stronger in the
vicinity of jetties... inlets... and piers. Swimmers caught in a
rip current should swim parallel to the coast to escape the rip
current before trying to swim for shore. Swimmers should always
swim near a lifeguard.
