Statement as of 5:20 am PDT on June 23, 2018

Heat Advisory

... Heat advisory now in effect until 8 PM PDT Sunday...

* temperatures... 102 to 106 degrees.

* Timing... this afternoon into early this evening and again Sunday
afternoon into early Sunday evening.

* Impacts... the heat can cause heat stress during outdoor
exertion or extended exposure, especially for heat sensitive
groups. Those on certain medications, the very Young or the
elderly may be more susceptible to these events than the
general population. Also those without effective cooling
should exercise caution.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The hot temperatures will create a situation in which
heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an
air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions the next few days. To reduce risk during
outdoor work, the occupational safety and health administration
recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air
conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved
to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call
9 1 1.

Fire Weather Warning

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 8 PM PDT Sunday for
gusty wind and low humidity for fire weather zones 213, 215, 216,
217, 218, 219, 220, 263, 264, 266, 267, and 279...

* wind... northerly wind 10 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph,
strongest on the west side of the Sacramento Valley extending
into the coastal range.

* Humidity... daytime minimum humidity as low as 6-12 percent with
areas of maximum humidity recovery of only 20-35 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
