Special Statement
Statement as of 3:01 PM PDT on August 28, 2015

... Change in the weather expected Saturday morning and afternoon...

A late Summer cold front will approach the state Friday evening
and overnight... keeping night time winds in the 10 to 20 mph range
with gusts to 30 mph in isolated spots. South and southwest winds
will cause problems on area lakes for boats and east to west
trending highways for trailers and recreational vehicles.

Saturday... as the front passes... winds will change to southwest to
west and increase to 15 to 30 mph with gusts to near 40 mph in
some valley places... and especially over lakes. Ridge lines will
have higher gusts... as will highways over summits and passes.

Isolated thunderstorms will produce dry lightning and blowing dust
in some places... reducing visibility and endangering
boaters... hikers... and drivers. Remember... lightning can easily
strike 20 miles away from thunderstorm.

Winds will die down somewhat Saturday night and Sunday... with
temperatures cooling off pleasantly.
