Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 7:12 PM MDT on August 28, 2015

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* until 845 PM MDT

* at 710 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Near jemez Spring and affecting
nm Highway 4. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. The
potential exists for another three quarters of an inch of rainfall
to accumulate.

* Locations impacted include...
Jemez Springs and Jemez State Monument.

Other locations affected include the following locations
Jemez Falls campground... paliza campground... Redondo campground... San
Antonio campground... Jemez State Monument... and Battleship Rock.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings.
Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may
travel many miles and take hours to reach
your location from upstream rain areas.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

Heavy rainfall may result in flooding of Road intersections and low
lying areas. Waters may begin to run in normally
dry arroyos and spill over the banks of small streams and creeks.
