Watches & Warnings

Blizzard Warning
Issued: 9:19 AM CST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning now in effect until 6 PM CST this evening...

* timing... blizzard conditions are expected to continue through
this afternoon. While conditions may slightly improve as snow
diminishes... strong winds will continue to produce widespread
blowing snow.

* Winds / visibilities... winds gusting as high as 50 mph will
combine with frequent snow showers... to cause periods of
whiteout conditions in falling and blowing snow.

* Snow accumulations... additional accumulations should remain
less than a half inch through midday... however amounts could
vary greatly over small distances due to the expected showery
nature of the snowfall.

* Impacts... travel will be very difficult to impossible... travel
may only begin to improve by sunset.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
