The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northern Dunn County in west central Wisconsin...
northwestern Chippewa County in west central Wisconsin...

* until 500 PM CDT

* at 101 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Three to four inches of rain
have fallen. Rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches an hour are occurring
and are expected to continue for the next few hours. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bloomer... New Auburn... Ridgeland... Sand Creek... Downing... Chippewa
Moraine state rec area and Connorsville.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area.

This includes U.S. Highway 53 between mile markers 108 and 119.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

Very heavy rain with the potential for localized flooding will affect
the following counties...

Dunn... Eau Claire... Chippewa...

At 202 PM CDT... very heavy rain with the potential for localized
flooding was over Chippewa Falls.

Locations impacted include...
Eau Claire... Menomonie... Chippewa Falls... Altoona... Lake Hallie...
Stanley... Bloomer... Lake wissota... Cadott... Colfax... Elk Mound and
Boyd.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 94 in Wisconsin between mile markers 49 and 63.
U.S. Highway 53 between mile markers 88 and 109.

Rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches an hour are occurring in the storms.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few
inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
