Watches & Warnings

Blizzard Warning
Issued: 7:05 PM CST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST Monday...

* short term trends... a strong wind combined with snow showers
could reduce visibilities to below a mile a times this evening.
Even stronger wind and heavier snow showers overnight combined
with areas of blowing snow will reduce visibilities further.

* Storm total snow accumulations... around an inch with narrow
bands of locally higher amounts are possible.

* Winds/visibility... northwest wind 25 to 35 mph with occasional
gusts to near 45 mph. Visibilities may drop to one quarter
mile or less at times... particularly during heavier snow
showers.

* Impacts... considerable blowing snow and restricted
visibilities will cause dangerous travel in some areas...
especially in those open or unprotected. Conditions may change
rapidly... even across individual counties. Winds of this
magnitude may also affect driving of low profile vehicles and
loose light weight objects.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
