Special Statement
Statement as of 10:58 AM CDT on September 05, 2015

... Late season very warm and humid conditions this afternoon...

Very warm and humid conditions will be common across the area
after 1 PM this afternoon... lasting through 7 PM this evening.
Heat indices are expected to rise to 95 to 100 f during this time.

This bout of late season heat... combined with numerous outdoor
activities this Holiday weekend may lead to heat related issues if
precautions are not exercised.

Here are a few simple tips to help you safely enjoy the day and
this evening. When possible... reschedule strenuous activities to
early evening. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water. If you see anyone becoming
overcome by the heat they should be moved to a cool and shaded
location.

Also... limit time spent outside and time spent in direct sunlight... and
check up on relatives and neighbors and pets. If anyone suspected
of experiencing heat stroke... call 9 1 1 immediately.
