Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 11:43 PM EST on December 01, 2015

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Sequatchie County in east Tennessee...
Rhea County in east Tennessee...
Blount County in east Tennessee...
McMinn County in east Tennessee...
Bledsoe County in east Tennessee...
Meigs County in east Tennessee...
Roane County in east Tennessee...
Loudon County in east Tennessee...
Monroe County in east Tennessee...
Marion County in east Tennessee...

* until 245 am EST/145 am CST/

* at 1140 PM EST /1040 PM CST/... Doppler radar indicated an area of
moderate to heavy rainfall across the warned area. The ground is
already very wet from earlier rains. This is causing and will
continue to cause flooding of creeks and streams as well as low
lying roadways and other flood prone areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Maryville... Athens... Lenoir City... Alcoa... Dayton...
Kingston... Sweetwater... Rockwood... Loudon... Dunlap...
Madisonville... Jasper... Pikeville... Decatur... Etowah... Oliver
Springs and South Pittsburg.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

* Until 7 am EST /6 am CST/ Wednesday

* moderate to locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 inches with
heavier amounts possible.

* Waves of moderate to locally heavy rainfall tonight could
result in flooding of low-lying areas. Rivers... creeks... and
streams will continue to rise... and will be susceptible to
flooding due to this persistent rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain... which may lead to flooding in and near the watch area. The
heavier rains may end for a few hours... but will likely return.
Keep alert to conditions until this entire event has ended. Also
it may be a couple of days before larger creeks and rivers
recede. Keep informed... and be ready for action if flooding is
observed or if a Flood Warning is issued. If you come to a closed
or flooded Road... turn around! Don't drown!
