Winter Weather Advisory, Winter Storm Watch
Issued: 3:50 PM EST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 am to 6 PM EST
Monday...
... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Monday evening through
Thursday morning...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 6 am
to 6 PM EST Monday. A Winter Storm Watch has also been issued.
This Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday evening through
Thursday morning.

* Locations... the southern and central North Carolina mountains
near the Tennessee border.

* Hazards... periods of snow and blowing snow through tomorrow.
Accumulating snowfall will likely continue through Wednesday
night. In addition... northwest winds combined with temperatures
in the single digits to low teens may yield wind chill values
between minus 5 to minus 15 Wednesday and Thursday morning.

* Timing... snow showers will develop during the pre dawn hours
Monday and will continue through the rest of the day. Deep
moisture and strengthening northwest winds will continue to
support snow showers through Wednesday night.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. Higher
amounts will be possible in the higher elevations along the
Tennessee border... while additional accumulations will be
considerably lighter in the valleys of southwest North Carolina.
Snow will continue to accumulate from Monday night through
Wednesday night... resulting in an additional 4 to 8 inches.

* Impacts... snow and snow packed roads will make travel dangerous.
Snow accumulation and strong gusty winds could result in
scattered power outages and downed trees.

* Temperatures... generally below freezing... with low temperatures
falling into the single digits Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

* Winds... northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
