Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 5:48 PM CDT on August 29, 2015

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Jefferson County in central Alabama...

* until 845 PM CDT

* at 547 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
northeastern Birmingham... Vestavia Hills... Mountain Brook...
Trussville... Gardendale... Irondale... Leeds... Fultondale... Center
Point... Clay... Pinson... Tarrant... Kimberly... Morris... Birmingham
Airport... Barber motorsports park... Grayson valley... Kingston...
Chalkville and Alton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
